Crime in South Africa?

Crime in South Africa?
You'll certainly think I'm a racist... but I'll ask anyway, since I've been more than a little confused about the way the South African government treats crimes being committed on farms. 1. The term "farm murder" is supposedly a racist term. Well, should there be no word for black-on-white hate crimes committed against farmers? The fact that the victim is white and the perpetrator is black is important because that means it COULD be a hate crime. If you're trying to steal money, then go ahead and shoot the person dead, since that's the quickest and most effective way of getting rid of the person so you can go about stealing. Why unnecessarily torture? 2. Why does the commission insist on discussing crimes committed against the (black) workers... isn't this kind of distracting from the fact that hate crimes MIGHT be committed against white farmers in particular. Race is important here because it indicates that these crimes might be hate crimes. And talking about race in this instance doesn't make you racist... just as talking about the race of a Klu-Klux-Klan murderer victim doesn't make you racist. 3. The way crimes are reported. In the investigation, they discuss "social fabric" crimes when estimating the number of "farm attacks" (I don't know the PC term, sorry) that occur. Well, law enforcement should have made a clear distinction between violent crimes of the type that involve assault with guns, or bats, or other weapons and "social fabric" crimes. I personally would expect the violent crime rate to be much lower on farms than in the city. A good way to estimate the rate of "social fabric" crimes would be to look at the farm crime rate before apartheid ended because social fabric crimes would occur with about the same frequency (no sane person would deny that the number of "farm attacks" has increased since 1994). How is it that violent crime rates are, according to some estimates, higher for farmers than for people living in cities? 4. Newspaper headlines like "Racist Farmer on the Run" would scare me if I were a white farmer in South Africa. Why do intellectuals deny that there's anything going on? When Gilomee talks about it he states that there's no "organized" effort to kill white farmers. Does it matter whether it's organized (in the sense that I take it he means) or not? Does the fact that it's "not organized" make the victims any less dead? Does it make the torture any more endurable for them? Is this really OK because they're white? Does the rest of the world believe that? "Is this really OK because they're white? Does the rest of the world believe that?" Oh... and if the above is true... do people realize that the exact argument for continuing apartheid was because of the dangers the minority would face if apartheid were abandoned. In a sense, if you agree with the quoted above... then you are saying that apartheid propaganda was correct! "You claim you are not a racist then your tone and prejudice betrays you." ... Never claimed to not be racist. Though I don't think I am, I leave it up to (disinterested) others to judge. "And you your whole rant is baised towards boere's as if they are the only people in the country suffering from violent crime, why should a proud boere like your care about the other low lives the only people that matter is you boere's." No, everyone in SA matters to me. I also care deeply about what's happening to foreigners in SA. BUT only foreigners and boere are likely facing hate crimes and only those crimes seem to be ignored. Other than that I believe the particularly brutal nature of crimes committed against everyone in SA is very disturbing. "How am I suppose to feel sympathy that is trying to justify apartheid." WHEN DID I JUSTIFY APARTHEID??? my main argument was that if you believe BOERE deserve it and you are complicit in their murder by not investing the necessary effort to catch their murderers... then essentially you have to agree that the boers were right when they argued that their lives were in danger should apartheid end! I'm arguing that YOU ARE JUSTIFYING APARTHEID, NOT I!!!!

Hi, Most of the black people in the country believes that when something happens to us white people that we deserve to suffer (not all of us supported apartheid and some of us were too young to even know what really happened when Mandela (ANC) won the 1994 elections. Most of us don't even know what apartheid was.) The fact is that in any country where there is a minority race, whatever the minority race does or is done to is not important. The government that we have now were suppose to be a non-racial government but instead, the government enforces BEE (black economic empowerment) on businesses. The SA law is also totally on the side of the criminal. We have seen so many times where farmers or other white people were thrown in jail for murder or attempted murder and the actual criminal walks free. If your life isn't being threatent even if there are 3 criminals in your house trying to steal stuff while holding guns, you may not defend yourself and shoot them. We have no method to defend ourselves without being charged as being guilty of murder. What can we do but just sit and look how everything we have is being stolen? It all comes down to the equation: white = minority = not important and ANC=corrupt=racial party

And you your whole rant is baised towards boere's as if they are the only people in the country suffering from violent crime, why should a proud boere like your care about the other low lives the only people that matter is you boere's. How am I suppose to feel sympathy that is trying to justify apartheid. As Mugabe would say "Go Hang!"
