Looking to get a degree in IT?

Looking to get a degree in IT?
I was wondering how to go about doing this? I mean i come from South Africa, I have been living in USA for 4 years now and I want to get a solid education. I enjoy computers. I know nothing about credits or colleges and stuff like that. I want to get my bachelors in IT and then my masters after that. I dont however want to take 2 years learning English, History, Math, and that kind of stuff. My wife is enrolled in TCC and she is going for an associates degree in general studies and these are some of her subjects she has to take. I am not interested in History and i completely suck at Math. I am also unsure of what courses to take. Like web design? Programming (sounds very hard). I enjoy networking, troubleshooting, Software and a little hardware but im open to anything really. I would like to make lots of money with this as well. I mean if I have Masters Degree in IT, I should make a killing right? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like you'll want a trade school like DeVry or ITT Tech where you learn only those classes needed to complete a certificate or associate's degree in a specific area, like tech support. If you go to a traditional college for a bachelor's, you are required to take general education classes in all subject areas to make you a more well-rounded educated person. IT covers many areas, but what you are describing what you want to do is tech support or web design. Do don't need a bachelor's or master's for that. Just take a couple of courses at a community college or a tech trade school, and you will be ready for a job. If you do pursue a tradition bachelor's and master's expect heavy work in a lot of science, math classes, and even business classes.

Why do *certain people think that the tribal people of the world WANT to be "westernized"?

Why do *certain people think that the tribal people of the world WANT to be "westernized"?
They don't. Why do so many people here think that just because someone is not living in a house that's way too large for them, and eating McDonalds everyday while wasting their life away behind a cubicle because they have to make money for others, is better than those who just prefer a different kind of life? I always hear people say this. Like they look down on tribal groups of the world. Assuming they are somehow stupid, when they aren't at all. These people choose to stay in tribes and be nomadic. Even in places like Africa, in many places they have made it so tribal children have to go to school, and the kids come back to their lives once they're finished. Its preferred over "modern" living. That's why they still do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQEYiCzmpOw Tribal/Nomadic people around the world, from South America to Africa, Asia, EUROPE, and the Middle East all know of the modern world. They get tourists and anthropologists who come to see how they live, and bring their cameras and language, and different foods and clothing. They prefer to live how they do. Simple as that. Why do some people look down on it like its stupid?

They dont choose to be that way, they just are. They are too stupid to advance as a society. Other people around the world advance as a society when they can find a way to make food without having to hunt and gather. They dont "choose" to be that primitive, they just are. And yes they would prefer to have our lifestyle if they knew about it. Honestly why do us black people try to make excuses for our primitive people?
2 :
I do admire those people that choose to cling on to their traditional ways..they've survived for thousands of years living the way they do so I don't see why they should change. I especially admire the uncontacted tribes of the world, though there are very few of them.
3 :
Its called being literate. Many monks in China are also not into western culture. BUT they are wise and literate. Not like some primitive apes foraging off the land. We are humans, we have a brain. We pass knowledge and progress down from generation to generation. If that does not appeal to you, then you do all your ancestors who braved nature just to evolve the brain size you have today a disservice. All religions, emphasize knowledge and literacy. Ignorance and primitivity is shunned. _Why do lions use their claws? Why do Elephants use their trunks? Why do humans use their brains? Natures way. We evolved to fit ecological roles.
4 :
Ethnocentrism. Because people view cultures outside of their own as being strange. We often think, why would anyone want to live like THAT when they can live like THIS? I mean, I'm guilty of doing it sometimes... However, I have to remind myself that that's all that they know. That's their life and they may also view MY way of life as being strange as well. There's a tribe in Brazil that finds plucking eyebrow and eyelash hairs from their partner's face arousing. That's weird as hell to me, but to them... It's normal, it's their way.

{Day 4} BHM Appreciation Thread..?

{Day 4} BHM Appreciation Thread..?
**WARNING, this is a good read, but it is a long read << hint for the non readers to hit the back button, i dont expect anyone to read the whole thing, but bits and pieces will get you a pretty good understanding..feel free to leave any thoughts/comments about this person Today is gonna be more of an "introduction" to someone you may or not heard of.. As you will find out, this person wasnt the traditional black hero you think of, or even a hero at that, but a woman who was basically a victim of her own body. Here's her story; Sara (Saartjie) Baartman, was born in the Eastern Cape in 1789 to a Khoisan family (in present day South Africa). The Khoisans played a big role in shaping South Africa's past and present, but during that specific time, The Dutch hunted down and killed members of the Khoisans because they were considered a "threat" to settlers. Now, Sara was a slave, but in 1810 at the age of 20 she was sold to a British Doctor who told her she could make alot of money showing off her body to the Europeans, so she was put on a ship and sent to London. There, she was put on display in a building and she was forced to parade around naked in circuses. She was displayed at bars, museums, even at universities. Details about Khosians; they are described as having 'honey-colored' skin, and they store their body fats in the lower back area, rather than thighs n belly, so yea...beyonce dont got nothin on them. But back to the story, their body types were natural for them, but Europeans used them as excuses to stereotype Blacks. In London, Sara paraded naked on a stage 2 feet high, led by her keeper, and exhibited like a wild beast. She walked, sat, or stood when ordered. After 4 years in London, Baartman was given to a showman of wild animals in Paris, she was often handled by an animal trainer, and her movements were described by a general as “"something brusque and capricious about them that recalled those of monkeys." It really is a shame to me that scientific papers were written about Sara Baartman to “prove” the superiority of the white race. Sara died in Paris in 1816, a poor prostitute, and an alcoholic. She became known as the “Venus Hottenhot” which was meant as a derogatory term to describe Khosians of South Africa. However she did not even get a decent burial. Her body was plastered, she was dissected, and her organs, genitals, and brain were conserved. To sum it all up, this is really a story of a woman, whose natural body caused her humiliation from those not understanding, I mean, she was treated like an animal for reasons beyond any of us. There is a lot more info about Sara Baartman out there on the web if you want to take the initiative to learn more, I just wanted to help bring more of her struggle out to those interested..here’s some pics also http://www.stanford.edu/~jbaugh/saw/studentphoto/Scenery/SartjieBaartman.JPG http://www.westminster.gov.uk/archives/images/celebrating17.jpg http://www.nathanielturner.com/images/New_Folder/Baartleton.jpg and thanks Sam for providing me with her name, and background info regarding her, I may have never read about Sara Baartman..

Wow...it's such a shame what people could force u to do back in those days....but sh*t it still goes on. Not to sound racist but white ppl (some) still think they are the superior race. This really is an interesting read...I only hope that everyone will actually read the whole thing.
4 :
Lol at Beyonce didn't have anything on her. This is a poem for Sara Baartman that I really liked: I've come to take you home - home, remember the veld? the lush green grass beneath the big oak trees the air is cool there and the sun does not burn. I have made your bed at the foot of the hill, your blankets are covered in buchu and mint, the proteas stand in yellow and white and the water in the stream chuckle sing-songs as it hobbles along over little stones. I have come to wrench you away - away from the poking eyes of the man-made monster who lives in the dark with his clutches of imperialism who dissects your body bit by bit who likens your soul to that of Satan and declares himself the ultimate god! I have come to soothe your heavy heart I offer my bosom to your weary soul I will cover your face with the palms of my hands I will run my lips over lines in your neck I will feast my eyes on the beauty of you and I will sing for you for I have come to bring you peace. I have come to take you home where the ancient mountains shout your name. I have made your bed at the foot of the hill, your blankets are covered in buchu and mint, the proteas stand in yellow and white - I have come to take you home where I will sing for you for you have brought me peace." Also, I really recommend that ya'll do your own research to find more info on her. The findings are mind boggling. Anywho, good job HNIC.
5 :
Thanks for sharing this info. I never heard of her actually. After reading this, I thought about all the video girls who shake their assess just to get fame. It comes with a price. "Beyonce don't got nothing on them." I like that line. LOL!
6 :
dang, I didnt know that....I feel really bad about what happened to her and what she had to go through...It makes me think of the video vixens (like superhead), who think its okay to gyrate half naked just because they're getting paid... ladies, Saartjie didnt have a choice, but you do! quit blaming men for your actions, and if you respect yourself you will earn respect from others..(Im speaking in general)
7 :
Yea I remember this story...I think it was either in the Source or the Washington Post that did an article on it...The white folk were amazed at how big her hindparts were...lol so she was pretty much a side show act for for them to see. I read that when she died they posted her body parts up in a museum in Europe or something like that.
8 :
Up until now I've never heard about this lady. Back then anything that was different from European decent was considered freakish. It's interesting how the tables are turning and now a big butt, and lips are considered desirable by women of all races. I like the reference above to the video vixens. I think that the black womans body is still put on display as a freak show, of course with different intentions, none the less it's still a freak show.
9 :
that is one of the most awful stories I've heard in a long time... it still bewilders me how people could ever be so in-humane and cruel to another person... it really does.. i am truly glad that i wasn't born in those times... the injustice is immeasurable.

Does anyone else notice that national geographic channel is actually a racist porn industry?

Does anyone else notice that national geographic channel is actually a racist porn industry?
so is travel channel. They have series and shows, its about different clans and tribes in africa or south american amazon rainforrest. They lied to the viewers and says it's about exploring other cultures, but thats just bull crap because all I see are naked people. And thats what these channels are doing, they are selling porn in secret yet right infront of our eyes. And they censored nothing, only time they give parental discription is when the villagers are going to slay an animal other then that u can see sacking boobs, big penises, butts, virgina, you name it everything. They are disrespecting other people's culture why not give them some clothing while filming? These big businesses are disgusting, they are insulting other people and they are insulting me as a viewer. Because they lied to viewers like me by saying it is educational and force me to watch their porn then they would make money out of viewers ratings. Who else is with me on this one? As americans we have to stop this cultural exploitation of porno industries and their disreguard of other people's culture. superior intellect then why do they give it a rated 14 or PG? only time the parent warning appears is when they hunt animal and kill it for food. But the whole entire show naked people everywhere and none censored, and you telling me that its my imagineation? where the **** are the parental watch group? they complains shows like jerry springer or HBO night time but when they put a program about nake people and its rated PG and says it is "educational" all of a sudden everyone is ok with it. come on what kind of bull shit is that

Really? I always thought it was MTV that ws racist and pornographic
2 :
It's you and your mentality that's making it "pornographic". They are showing you how other people live around the world and other people's lifestyles and if you are not mature enough to actually understand the purpose of the show than you should just change the channel.

Where are the rights of these poor africans they should get paid the same amount of money as any other porn artist, this ain't right. AND well now that i am aware of this i will watch the national geographic channel more often! ^_^ thanx! except for the racist part that ain't right
8 :
"Superior intellect" is completely right. Its not porn, there's nothing sexual in what they are doing. ::NEWSFLASH:: some other cultures DONT wear clothes! Its like saying they have nothing to teach us because they dont wear what we wear. Why would they tell them to put on our idea of whats right, our western clothes. That's awfully ignorant. If you dont want to watch it then, dont. Wow. that was easy. Taking responsibility for your own actions. Who woulda thought..... LOL @ "forcing me to watch their porn".. Its almost like the remote control becomes handcuffs, huh!!!

Help!I know it sounds weird but how can I convince my parents let me travel on my own?

Help!I know it sounds weird but how can I convince my parents let me travel on my own?
The funny part is I'm 21 years old,I study medicine abroad, away from my family and home since I was 17.However,my parents still think that they should treat me as if I were 15..The thing is I'm from Greece and I want to start traveling on my own, beginning from Istambul.I have been traveling with my dad since I was 12 in conference-trips in places like Brazil,Indonesia,South Africa, etc. Anybody would ask why do I need my parents' approval to go since I already have the money to make this trip but the thing is that they will immediately say no in the moment I will tell them and their biggest argument as always is gonna be financial blackmail(eg/ "if u want to do things that we disapprove, maybe we should stop paying for your studies, for the house u live in,etc")How should I convince them to "let" me go?I just don't want drama and argues...

If your 21 then it's just a case of however you feel it will go down best and what you want the outcome to be. You can either tell them straight that your going and they'll have to learn to accept it, or you can live with their decision and stay at home so as not to bother them and keep financial aid. Nobody on here is going to be able to tell you how to convince your parents. You need to just think about it, and make your mind up about what you want to do.

It's a Greek thing, I have found they are very controlling, my daughter married one I would advise tho to stay away from the arab countries as they are not the safest area's around How about Asia or Australia-NZ? Singapore is a beautiful country
3 :
Well . I would say become financially independent. Once your school studies are done and you are no longer "bound" to your parents. Other option is let them know how you feel dont say things like you do this and you never let me etc. but start like I would like to .. I feel like .. etc.
4 :
hey, this happen all the time to me. My parents used to be the same. my solution is that i try to SHOW them that I'm a grown up, i could do everything on my own. Tell them if everybody could let their children go travel why can't your parents. This issues would take sometimes to get better. You should talk to your parents but try to prevent all the arguement.

Good Day , I NEED YOUR HUMBLE HELP I know how surprise this letter will come to you, but i would advice that you consider it as a request from a family in dare need of assistance.I am Mrs. Stella Moyo the wife of Mr.Morgan Moyo of Gwanda town in Zimbabwe.Your contact information came to me from your country's trade journal during my search for a reliable and God fearing person that can assist me and my only son, and I quite beleive on my own that you can be of great help in this regard even if i am not acquainted to you before. The business involves the transfer of NINETEEN MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND U.S. DOLLARS ONLY (US$19,700,000.00) into your account for safe keeping. This fund is inherited from my late husband who was assasinated by the president's (ROBERT MUGABE) aides in view of taking his lands and property because of the crisis which lead to the killing and barnishing of foreign(white) farmers. After the death of my husband (A day I can never forget) I was approached by our family lawyer who told me that my late husband had filed a document with him which stipulates his "WILL".In the "WILL" he specifically pointed and I quote, Darling, I wish to draw your attention to the sum of Nineteen Million Seven Hundred Thousand U.S.Dollars(U.S$19.7M)which I deposited with a Security Company in Johannesburg South Africa with all the documents filed by our lawyer. In case of my absence on earth caused by death only, you should solicit for a foreigner that can assist you to transfer the money out of there (SA)for investment purposes. I have saved this money to make the future of my only son "DUBE MOYO"From the above, you will understand that my future especailly the future of my son depends on this money and as such I will be grateful if you can assist us in transfering this fund to your account overseas for our investments. You can contact my son "MR.DUBE MOYO" on his Telephone number:TEL: +27-799 851 468 as he will direct you with our lawyer to arrange the modalities of transfering this fund without any hitch. For your assistance we have agreed to offer you 20% of the whole fund, 5% for any expenses that may be incurred while the remaining 75% will be kept for us under your care till our arrival in your country.God bless you for your anticipated undertstanding and co-operation. Am I liable for Nanny taxes?

Am I liable for Nanny taxes?
We have a live in Nanny from South Africa. Originally, she entered the country with a J-1 VISA (cultural exchange) that allowed her to receive a weekly stipend for one year tax free. That was five years ago. Since that time she switched to a F-1 VISA (student) and earns money taking care of our kids and additional money under the table watching the neighbor kids. My questions is if she makes $12K to $15K per year and doesn't file Federal or State income taxes, can the IRS come after me with fines and penalties?
United States - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Yes you are liable for the Nanny Tax. She is your employee. You pay your share of her Social Security and Medicare taxes when you file your tax return, using Schedule H. How you pay or remit her share of Social Security and Medicare depends on whether you deducted these taxes from her pay. The process for paying her share is detailed in the IRS Instruction to Form 1040 Schedule H. She is required to file a tax return based on this income. Whether or not she files, you would be liable as described above. If you didn't pay, you could be subject to fines and penalties, with no time limit for the IRS to come after you. The penalty for an employer to fail to pay Social Security and Medicare tax is 100%, plus interest.
2 :
The F1 student must report this as income. However, the income may not be subject to social security and medicare taxes. F1 student must file nonresident tax return. She will get exemption and deduction as per tax treaty between the U.S. and her country. Read about nonresident tax filing: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/03/us-tax-filing-requirements-for-non.html
3 :
"Am I liable for Nanny taxes? " Of course you are. "from South Africa. Originally, she entered the country with a J-1 VISA (cultural exchange) that allowed her to receive a weekly stipend for one year tax free." The US/South Africa tax treaty only allowed money that came from OUTSIDE the US for that first year to be tax exempt. Any money made inside the US was fully taxable. (Article 20 of the treaty.) "That was five years ago. Since that time she switched to a F-1 VISA (student)" Her visa status only governs whether she is a resident or non-resident alien. An NRA files a 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ and does not get a standard deduction. This meant any income over and above the amount of the personal exemption each year to be subject to income tax. I sincerely doubt you are paying her less than $3500 a year. After 5 years, the visa no longer makes her days exempt and she would then file a 1040. (However, since she did not abide by the terms of her visa, I doubt she would be considered an NRA.) "and earns money taking care of our kids and additional money under the table watching the neighbor kids." So, she also has unreported self-employment income and now owes SE tax as well. (Since she was violating her visa by working, she can be subject to the SE tax for the first 5 years.) "My questions is if she makes $12K to $15K per year and doesn't file Federal or State income taxes, can the IRS come after me with fines and penalties?" Go read IRS publciation 926. As an employer, you were responsible for checking to see if she was eligible to work (under the visa, she would have to have permission from ICE), had a valid SSN, filled out a W-4 correctly (single 1 and indicating NRA), that you withheld income taxes each payperiod based on her income (after adjusting it for being an NRA), that you paid the fica/mc (even if you did not withhold them--many employers of nannies pay the full 15.3% themselves and adjust the W-2 accordingly) and paid those in with your taxes using schedule H. You were also required to give her a W-2 each year. The penalties for failing to do the above can fairly high very quickly. PS, ignore the post that said students were exempt from fica/mc. That's only if it's an on-campus job *or* an internship APPROVED by ICE and even then only if she was still considered a non-resident alien. Your nanny is NONE of these.

Can I ask my neighbors to help fund a study abroad trip?

Can I ask my neighbors to help fund a study abroad trip?
I am majoring in Exercise & Health Science, and the department has ties with certain Universities all over the world, particularly in places like Africa and South America, to enrich our education on popular health issues in those areas. I live in Georgia, have the HOPE Scholarship, and Federal Pell Grant to help fund a study abroad, but I need a little more. I only have so much time out of the day to myself, and I was wondering if it were legal to ask neighbors for a donation. In advance, I plan to make a brochure of the Exercise & Health Science Department and the trips they make every year. I also plan to tell them a little bit about myself and why I think it's beneficial to go there. I figured it is legal as long as I am not misrepresenting myself. I am looking to fund-raise using this method for at least a year collecting $1 from each person acquiring around 10-30 dollars a day. I am not interested in loans, and I would apply for a job if I had more time to make money, but right now my full time is going towards my education so that I can make the money later and help people. =] Thank you in advance!

You can but you're not being realistic. The economy is bad and there's no guarantee that you'll make enough money. I applied for scholarships and I'm a pretty average student. It's best just to take loans and use scholarships. If you can't fund it then don't go.
2 :
Your heart is in the right place, but you want to essentially bother strangers in their homes to ask for their hard-earned money (even if it is "only" a dollar). What if everyone did this who wanted something, but didn't want to work for it? You need to work for what you want in life. Get a job or take out loans and welcome to the club! And I don't mean to be rude, but your closing line is rather insulting. "I am not interested in loans, and I would apply for a job if I had more time to make money..." Don't want what you won't work for. Best of luck.

Does anybody think Israel is really harvesting organs in Haiti?
While media reports from Haiti express amazement at Israel's well-equipped medical delegation to the quake-stricken nation, some critics have warned against organ theft. The Israeli medical team dispatched to Haiti has set up a field hospital in the tremor-battered Caribbean country, winning Western media praise for doing what even their American peers have not yet managed to accomplish. But a video posted on Youtube by an American resident of Seattle, Washington on Tuesday took the shine off the Israeli professionalism that media have raved about in the past few days. In his video, T. West of a group called AfriSynergy Productions suggested that soldiers in the military delegation to the earthquake site in Haiti might be involved in stealing organs from their patients. He warned that there are people operating in Haiti who do not have a conscience and are members of the search-and-rescue teams, including the Israeli army, Israeli news website Ynet reported on Wednesday. West recalled organ harvest charges filed against the Israeli army in the past, and pointed out that there is very little monitoring during such tragedies. He warned the Haitian people to protect their fellow citizens against international medical groups who have arrived in the country in hope of making money off the tragedy. In a interview with Ynet, West said he had nothing against Israel but fully opposed "the ideology of Zionism." "We saw what you did in South Africa and with the Palestinians. Because of our history and the suffering of our people, I understand what the Palestinians are going through." Last Tuesday, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Haiti, leaving an estimated 200,000 people killed — 70,000 of whom have already been buried in mass graves. West, an African American who does "a talk show and journalism and volunteer for a few non-profit organizations," appreciated the presence of Israeli military forces and others helping in Haiti, but noted "everywhere there is death, there are exploiters." "There needs to be transparency in Haiti," he urged. http://www.google.com/search?q=organ+theft+haiti&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=&oe=

Nonsense....utter nonsense. The Israeli's would have no way to get an organ from Haiti back to Israel under those conditions in 11 hours. It is logistically impossible even if you wanted to do that.
2 :
So far, the only two groups that have claimed that Israel is harvesting organs are Press TV and this AfriSynergy guy. AfriSynergy, to me, seems like it is a black supremest group (though, three days ago, I had never heard of them), and Press TV has been known to print false news (they are, after all, controlled by the Iranian government). I'll admit, that the confusion would help the Israelis harvest organs. However, the other conditions prevent this from being profitable. That, and if you actually know Israelis you would know that they wouldn't do it. If you look on the web, you would find that Israel were the only ones who had the much needed surgical capabilities (well, this might be true to this second), and that their rescue teams have done more than their fair share. Israelis are human, too, and it is a shame that they can't do something good without someone accusing them of wrongdoings. I mean, what have their accusers done that makes them look good in this crisis?

do you agree with this statement as to why some whites Behave Ghetto?

do you agree with this statement as to why some whites Behave Ghetto?
ghetto is not limited to 1 race but increasingly in the U.S. whites and all races across the earth or organisims across the universe tend to get a long with their kind 99% of the time..this Explains in great detail why blacks men and black women and white men and white women and asian women and asian men 98% of the time date and marry in their race..of course in some countrys like South Africa, The United Kingdom, and The United States and even Canada, interracial relationships are more common but still only perhaps 2% of the population or 3% at most participate in such actions however a great deal or Rich and Suburban whites tend to flock towards hip hop culture not necessarily rich whites as trends say they tend to prefer rock and older whites prefer anything but current rap music but i am talking about kids who are teenagers say after the 2000's do you agree with this Statement Below The motivations and views of participants may vary, but these parties have two consistent features: (1) white people mock African American and Latino people through stereotypes of the residents of low-income urban areas, while at the same time enjoying the feeling of temporarily adopting these looks and poses; and (2) the white folks typically do it without pausing to ponder what right they have as members of a dominant racial class to poach in this fashion on the lives of people of a subordinated racial class. In other words, white people find pleasure in insulting non-white people while at the same time safely “slumming’ for cheap thrills in that non-white world, all the time oblivious to the moral and political implications. Hip-hop is not black or white — it’s green,” he said. “If a certain genre is selling, those record executives don’t care one way or another. They don’t care if it’s destructive or it’s positive as long as it’s making money. I think there’s ways in which you can use it against itself.” Still, fans like Farrell believe music’s first function is entertainment, and the mixing of a popular aesthetic with honest, insightful lyrics are the best way to infuse music with political undertones. its not that some whites are racist at all infact they take pleasure in controlling 99% of things but also at the same time like the feel as with younger generations that a ghetto hip hop class that is prefebly say black americans dominate in the sense that Most Rappers are black they like the feel but do not live the life so while they can mock it without hate in their minds they are not racist rather would you say confused or just goofy in that sense?

I have never thought of ghetto being for "blacks only" I just think it's a sort of sub culture. Many people would argue. Cultures are constantly mixing. Such as noodles coming from China originally but people now thing noodles are from Italy. Maybe eventually people will think Ghetto means your white. I don't ever associate things with just one race.

That depends very much on WHERE you are talking about and WHEN. I grew up in the very poor East End of London in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. I didn't leave London until 2004. In the 70s I loved British pop and Jamaican reggae music (simply because I heard it everywhere in my neighbourhood). On virtually every street corner there would be someone with a ghetto blaster. In the 80s rap came along and more or less displaced reggae music as the music of the young (though I still went to "blues" parties). In the 1990s a new form of reggae, "ragga" became popular and I liked that, although being more politically aware, did not like it's more homophobic lyrics. Now it's R&B. I was white, poor and Irish and it isn't astonishing that I picked up cultural influences from my own neighbourhood.

what do you think about my essay be as harsh as u can but be honest, also grade it if you can?

what do you think about my essay be as harsh as u can but be honest, also grade it if you can?
hi, i turned in this report to one of my classes and got a low B on it i completely disagree with this... can you guys/gals give my your opinion on it? and what i may need to fix. Thank you, it may seems long but its only like 2 pages. im in highschool btw :) “The writer must earn money in order to be able to live and to write, but he must by no means live and write for the purpose of making money” Karl Marx. Having gone through a rough childhood during the early 1800s because of extreme poverty, Marx viewed life in one way that was to help those of the poor be equal to those of the rich. Karl Marx is viewed as the creator of communism, which his theories was and are viewed as wrong and immoral. His ideas were there to help the poor, but have been manipulated by dictators to become a type of authoritarian government, which gave the people NO rights and has been known through its time to abolish all private property. Karl Marx was an ethical, creative, and influential man whose goal was to create equality for all people of the world. As a catalyst for change Karl Marx altered the world in an astonishing way, he inspired such leaders as Lenin, Stalin, Mao Zedong, and even Castro to lead their people in their own version of “communism” which has unfortunately devastated millions of people’s of lives. Those leaders followed his work day in and day out leading it to what it’s known as today a failed government, but it should be known as a government that hadn’t been correctly practiced. In order to view Karl Marx as an effective catalyst for change, one should observe the ethics he had within himself and understand what ethics is. Ethics is defined as the study of moral standards and how they affect conduct. Ethics is a major affair in every profession and is a key topic of philosophical discussions. Karl Marx was a man of ethics. One of his main applications was freedom, which to Karl Marx meant determination. Marx's opinion was that “man is controlled by the basics of nature. The nature of man is comprised of powers, man being uncontrolled, and allows him to comprehend the fullness of his powers,” (Karl Marx selected writings, pg. 207) With such a strong belief in ethics Karl Marx was viewed by a majority of people all over Europe as an unethical man because he didn’t abide by the laws. For example some laws required people to be suppressed and not be able to talk about the government, writing about the media and against the media was wrong, and speaking your mind was wrong. But being ethical is also not the same as following the law. The laws often include ethical standards to which most citizens pledge to. But laws, like feelings, can deviate from what is ethical. Our own pre-Civil War slavery laws and the apartheid (a system of legal racial separation) laws of present-day South Africa are grotesquely obvious examples of laws that deviate from what is ethical. Being ethical is not the same as doing "whatever society accepts." In any society, most people accept standards that are, in fact, ethical. But standards of behavior in society can deviate from what is ethical. An entire society can become ethically corrupt. Nazi Germany is a good example of a morally corrupt society. Karl Marx viewed the government as an unethical creature with absurd powers over the people; he thus made the book Communist Manifesto with his friend Engles who shared the same views as Marx, this book was made to show and talk about the government and how his idea of a new government called communism would revolutionize the world for the better. Additionally to fully understand Karl Marx you must understand his creativity and what exactly creativity is. Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining others and ourselves. Karl Marx is obviously seen as a creative man by all people since he did create his own government. But that isn’t all that makes him a creative person his ideas, the way he speaks about certain things, and his ability to think for the worlds benefit make him a creative man. For example “ Natural science will in time incorporate into itself the science of man, just as the science of man will incorporate into itself natural science: there will be one science,” (Karl Marx selected writings, pg.128). Marx here is saying that one day Natural science (physical labor) and science (Mental labor) will work by each other side by side as one. What Karl Marx said eventually came true, professions like engineering had arrived, a profession that requires both intensive labor and a mental capacity of math far beyond other professions. Marx’s creativity leads him to theories and ideas like that. Not many men could or can recognize what will eventually occur in time, but Marx being the creative man he is has the tendency to recognize things like this. Karl Marx, unfortunately during hi

I'm no English teacher, but your paper has numerous gramamtical errors. It's also disorganized, has some sentences that don't make sense, and just isn't coherent. You begin with a Marx quote about writing and then fail to connect it to the rest of the essay, which is about Marx and the impact of his political theories. You state that Marx created his own government -- what government in what country did he create? Marx offered political theory; it was others who put those theories into practice in various governments.

Okay: You are going about all this wrong way!! First you need to locate the book: The power of a praying woman..:)) You have to pray and ask god to send this kind of man to you!! And even then, he is gonna have some issues, so only ask for what you can not deal with out, Trust Loyalty Faithfulnesses Hard worker Devoted Wonderful God Fearing Morals Great Family Lover not a fighter Protective My husband needs some help in the protective area, for he is used to me speaking up for my self!! SO I say that is how you are gonna find some one to your needs, but, what are you going to offer?? I just see what you needed, what is this man getting?? That is your real question!!

LOL! It sounds like you want to be more of a mistress than a partner. And what are you offering in return? Will you go to hockey games? Help guide the wood through the bandsaw? Rock his world in bed? Hold the flashlight in your left hand and the big wrench in your right, totally steadily, so he can get the gasket loose on the drain under the sink to fix the leak? Prepare 9 course Chinese banquets? Clean up the mess when he gets the stomach flu? It sounds like you want a robot not a human man, which is too bad, because real men are a lot of fun, even if they aren't our abject slaves.

Travel/Working Abroad - Any Advice?

Travel/Working Abroad - Any Advice?
I'm matriculating this year. I'm planning to do a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education (to teach high school). My eventual plan is to settle down back home (South Africa) and study further - perhaps do my doctorate and lecture English. However, I really want to travel first. My current (pretty vague, I must admit) plans are to finish studying (4 years) and then teach English in Japan/Thailand for a few years to make some money. My mother was born in England. As far as I'm aware, if I play my cards right this gives me the right to live and work there. I'm especially interested in this because I'm dying to travel Europe and I have heard that it is easy to see the rest of the continent if you're already based there. I would like to ask for advice from anyone with experience involving working abroad (particularly in Japan/Thailand and the UK). What do I need to have/do? Is there any way for me to get a permanent residence so I can continue studying in the UK? How expensive is it to live in England and how easy would it be for me to find a job (preferably teaching High School English) once I am there? Any advice, pro's, con's or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

To many different question here and I will get bored trying to answer them. Except for Thailand where I live. If you want to teach here you need a degree in Teaching or a degree in any other area and a TEFL. You don't make much money here in Thailand, maybe $1,000 to $1,500 a month. You need to come here and look for a job. Finding a job will not be that hard. Then go to Malaysia and apply for a work visa. When you return your school should help you get a work permit. All this is good for one year, you have to do it again every year.

you should know thats it very UNSAFE for white women to TRAVEL ALONE TO JAPAN and hang out with Japanese men. although overall homocide is low in Japan, however, homocide and sexual assaults etc against foreign women is very high as a percentage of foreign female population in Japan. Japanese men have an unhealthy perverted fetish of white girls and many white girls are sexually assaulted and tricked by being lured to his apartment to teach him english etc, where she is then drugged and raped n murdered and chopped up and eaten. There will be a high chance you will be raped n murdered. Just google 3 very famous documented cases: issei sagawa, lindsay hawker and lucie blackman.

Hi, I'd like to bet some money on the U,.S. vs England match, I think I could make some money on this match because I think the U.S. is going to win! and of course, most fans around the world think that England is going to win that match, however, I can't find any website to bet on the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. It seems like in the U.S. we are not allowed to do such thing, is that correct? I really can't believe it, why would betting on soccer be illegal in this country? thank you .

Writers: I want to write a book. But is my writing poetential there?? Please tell me what you think of this?
This a part of a story I want to write set in South Africa (where I live). This is about one of my characters history (escaping Zimbabwe into SA) PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF MY WRITING IS WORTH PERSUING. Im sorry if its long. ------------------------ They claimed it would cost them R200 each to cross the border. In Africa money is hailed like the gods, Selina was aware of that doctrine and she had to buy her freedom through pious loyalty of such preaching. On this land the drums beat to the rhythm of revenue, the beads of red, blue and orange, bloated with buoyancy, are threaded for the making of that little-bit-extra not as rescue missions to savour fading histories. In Africa government houses chant with hallow debate because all ears are fixed on the lyrical lyre of the dollar. For it is where politicians and businessmen are synonymous terms… and it’s called an example of ‘developmental democracy’. Money is the emerald blood that channels through the black markets. Row after row of vendors, stick stalls, carpets and people form the veins, thick and thin…a hundred and a thousand tiny lines stretching across capitals, towns and villages. The hemoglobin flow of estranged heads on bronze or some other rusty colour fill cities with fraud, ‘favours’, blackmails and business contracts. The notes of minted green flow from dirt-hibernating pocket to pocket. The money itself almost tastes of blood. This need brings only more poverty and licenses greed and Selina saw it. She had lived it until she could not breathe the choking dirt any longer. Squinting up at paper planes and kites that litter the Gweru sky she waits for their secret meeting to materialise. All of the flying toys are made up of Zim dollars. With freshly ‘passed by parliament’ billion dollar notes the older ones are used by the children to build jets and towers of money, racing each other to see who can stack the most in the fastest time. Zimbabwe is on life-support. But for how long can oxygen be artificially pumped in a body that is terminally paralysed? She didn’t believe in euthanasia but hope seemed more sacrilegious than ever. As she waits by a pineapple and chille stall somewhere in the market her gaze is torn from a particularly amusing tower of notes toppling to the ground to another young child, a bright blue spot, weaving through the crowds of brown, black and white, running in her direction. The pace of his legs reminds her of small turbines as he draws nearer. She watches him turn his face to glance back at who it was that was chasing him but he isn’t quick enough and, in shock, she doesn’t have time to move out of the way and like a train collision, he hits the ground that coughs up a spray of dust in ill-fated complaint. “Are you alright?” Selina holds out a hand and helps the boy to his feet. She can’t help but note the skeletal feel of his fingers reminding her of the chicken necks they would suck at as children. He places his bony hands on his excuses for knee caps and breathes tightly as if he didn’t hear her. Staring at the bag he is gripping around his tiny fist he suddenly remembers the barrier that had halted his escape and his eyes flash both fear and shock as he cuts her an upward look. The bag looks like its filled with sugar and he held onto it as if it were filled with diamonds that he, himself, had mined. Without a word he turns away from her and hurtles back into the crowd. She checks her watch, broken in the middle, but the roman numerals are still visible. 5:17pm. Daya was late and Rahul and the trafficker are nowhere in sight. Could someone have tipped them off? Maybe Daya had changed her mind, like she is beginning to feel… that all too familiar sinking sickness in the pit of her stomach. She tightens the blanket she has wrapped around her to keep Moyo warm on her back as she scans the now filtering crowds. Watching them, the scent of afternoon tea that the vendors drink flows past her nose, lazy-like, on the breeze that meandered through the people. It took her back to a time on a farm just outside Bulawayo. ---------------------------- (there's more...) I know Im sometimes verbose?? Is the writing good? BE BRUTAL if you must. PLEASE PLEASE give me some feedback. APOLOGIES FOR THE SPELLING ERROR IN THE QUESTION. I TYPE TOO FAST FOR MY OWN GOOD. :)

I think you're pretty good. There's a lot of description in the first paragraph, but I would like to think that it has something to do with the story, and not just there. There are some incomplete sentences and spelling problems, but if you work on your grammar, I really do believe you can do good.

i think you could write for google

Really good, yes you should defiantly continue this story!

Make the verbose accepted and acclaimed for their intensity of sharing. The rest success! Go ahead!

You have the nub of an exceedingly good story. It's a little too metaphorical in places. Maybe you should ration these a little but the underlying story is good. You have the makings of an excellent writer but you need to learn a little more about technique and the boring job of learning your trade, the correct use of words, spelling, tense and layout. With some work I could envisage seeing your books on the shelves at some time in the future.

yeah, id have to agree with what ed(above) has said. dont let anyone discourage you. imo you need to have target audience and a suitable content and language to be commercialy viable. what do ya say.. but hey what about your india plans ? is it on? theres something interestn you might wanna try. its "nadi or naadi astrology" its exciting. may be you could write about it. mail me if ur interested. gud luck

What's your opinion on the 2 potential new "radical" bowling changes being made in ODI's..?

What's your opinion on the 2 potential new "radical" bowling changes being made in ODI's..?
The ICC is "concerned" that ODI's are becoming a dying form of the game, despite the fact that at the moment in South Africa the series against England is being played to near full stadiums. What they are really worried about is that ODI's aren't making enough money, so the "brains" at the ICC are making it even more Gimmicky..... The 2 rule changes the ICC suggest could be implemented: * The bowling side starts with 2 new balls. It gives the batsmen more of an advantage because they will play against a harder ball for longer. This takes out the ball change at the 34th over. It also means there is no chance that reverse swing will occur. * Two bowlers are to be allowed to bowl 12 overs each and two to bowl ten, leaving the fifth bowler an allocation of just six. The intention is to encourage captains and selectors to pick more 'specialists' and marginalise the need for bits-and-pieces cricketers. So what do you think about these changes? Are they going to help breathe some life into ODI's, or is it going to make a confusing game, even more confusing.

There is no harm in trying out these 'Gimmicks' as you put it. if it works, well and good, they can keep it: otherwise they can always throw it out as they did with the substitution 'gimmickry'.
2 :
Batting friendly games are being made more batting friendly and the main bowlers might get to bowl bit more but that the extent, to which these changes are going to benefit bowlers, as 2 balls will ensure no reverse swing & all the more for batters, to attack the hapless bowlers & make merry.

Two bowlers are to be allowed to bowl 12 overs each and two to bowl ten, leaving the fifth bowler an allocation of just six. The intention is to encourage captains and selectors to pick more 'specialists' and marginalise the need for bits-and-pieces cricketers. this suggestion i liked the most as this will gave captains to have their peak bowlers to bowl in death overs, imagine brett lee giving nightmares to batsman with his yorkers from 40th -50th over, the death overs.

* The bowling side starts with 2 new balls. It gives the batsmen more of an advantage because they will play against a harder ball for longer. This takes out the ball change at the 34th over. It also means there is no chance that reverse swing will occur. This is boring. The ball should be replaced in the 30th over rather with a new one. * Two bowlers are to be allowed to bowl 12 overs each and two to bowl ten, leaving the fifth bowler an allocation of just six. The intention is to encourage captains and selectors to pick more 'specialists' and marginalise the need for bits-and-pieces cricketers. I think the supersub rule should rather be reintroduced, without the captain having to name the substitute before the toss. It will give teams like India the benefit of an all-rounder.

Interesting ! But I dont like this change "* The bowling side starts with 2 new balls. It gives the batsmen more of an advantage because they will play against a harder ball for longer. This takes out the ball change at the 34th over. It also means there is no chance that reverse swing will occur" This will take out all the fun from the match. I like this change "* Two bowlers are to be allowed to bowl 12 overs each and two to bowl ten, leaving the fifth bowler an allocation of just six. The intention is to encourage captains and selectors to pick more 'specialists' and marginalise the need for bits-and-pieces cricketers." This will allow bowlers like Johnson, Zaheer to bowl more overs and also we will get rid of Jadeja type player who likes to be responsible for home team's defeat. Hahaha
6 :
there is no confusion, the confusion is in your mind, the stadias fill on test or ODI cricket if the team is not incompetent like england.
7 :
All these changes are again proving that the game is killing the bowlers
8 :
Starting with 2 new balls is better than having one later in the game Great Shane Bond Bowls 12 only need part timer 2 bowl 6
9 :
This is one of the reasons cricket is not my favourite sport, at least FIFA doesnt propose wholesale changes to the laws of the game as they please. Both rule changes are rubbish to be precise. If these rules are implemented in the future, how will we differentiate and compare ODI stats for bowlers who have different quotas on their overs? Start off with 2 new balls? Seems to be the idea of a ball-less individual.
10 :
What a load of rubbish. Why do they feel they need to continually tinker with ODI cricket? The format works, and is probably the strongest of the three at present. Aaarrrggghhhh......
11 :
The ODI,s are already framed to favour the batsman,by feild restrictions.,free hits,by giving wides when the ball is bowled even slightly outside the leg stump, having shorter boundry lines. Are these rules not enough for batsmen to score quickly and heavily? If not then further weaken the bowling to make the batsamn score more runs. This can be done if is made compulsory for 5 bowlers to bowl 8 overs each and one bowler can bowl 10 overs, over all 6 bowlers should be made compulsory..Hence the batsmen will have a chance to target more weak bowlers and make big totals.I donot agree with the ICC new rules ,which will not help in anyway. On the other hand i agree with Sachin's suggestion that the ODI be divided into 2 innings of 25 overs each. When the match will nearly have the same excitement as a combined 2 seperate matches of 20-20 games.
12 :
I don't like the 'start with two new balls rule'. but I like the ' 2 bowlers bowl 12 overs rule' P.S: check the full article at cricinfo.com: http://www.cricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/current/story/438501.html

1: The idea of needing a "new ball" in ODIs is quite useless anyway. This is just a variation on a gimmick. 2: I like this idea, as it would give bowlers a chance to get into a spell a bit more than is the case at the moment. Just to save the maths becoming complicated I would prefer that four bowlers can bowl up to 11 overs each, rather than 12x2 and 10x2 (which looks like somebody was trying a bit too hard to be clever). What they should of course just do is replace the redundant 50-over format with a 40-over one, and save everybody from the tedium of the modern ODI...
14 :
Wow! The trolls are out in force, look at all those TDs. I suppose anything is worth a try, but as someone else said why keep changing things? However, I would be interested to see if it works, but I still think T20 is the main problem & should be kicked to the kerb. ODI was doing fine till the newer form of cricket came on the scene.
15 :
That day is near when ICC will announce that , Fast bowler is restricted to ball straight (no swing) with speed limit ( maximum ) 60 MPH, spinner restricted to not to turn the ball. 2nd point could favors the good bowler of the particular match.
16 :
ODIs have been a fluid thing right from the get go. bringing in the 30 metre fielding circle and fielding restrictions, then the powerplay, the batting powerplay, the free hit on the following ball of a noball, the noball for a full toss above the waist or bouncer over shoulder, the altered notion of wide (widing anything down legside) none of these rules were in effect when ODI first started and the format has survived the changes. There is no harm in trying the varioations, if they don't work they can always dump it, like they did with the supersub rule of a couple of years ago. Personally I like the 12 over/6 over rule as in the current form if a bowler is difficult to play the batsmen simply see him off and then plunder the other 4 bowlers 40 overs, this way if a bowler gets on top he can get a little reward and gie the batsmen less overs to play with, it also keeps them guessing as in the current laws a bowler bowls 10 overs you know he's finished, with the new rule he might pop back for another 2 overs later on. The new ball rule can go both ways. A new ball comes off the bat faster but is usually also does more in the air so a good bowler can take advantage of that, you might see something like the opening bowlers having 6 overs each with the new ball, the spinners and medium pace restricting bowlers coming on to bowl out the old ball and then the strike bowlers coming back for another 6 overs each with the second new ball. this might make things really interesting.
17 :
I think its trash, ICC is making too many changes, Super sub, Batting and bowling power plays etc. They should leave the game as it is
18 :
1. "The bowling side starts with 2 new balls" Rubbish rule. Not just reverse swing will be difficult but also the spinners will have to bowl with the "new" ball. Normally the spinners are introduced at the time of 17th or 18th over when the ball is a little more scuffed. Now with 2 new balls it will mean they can't find that kind of ball before 35 overs! And that's too late for bringing your spinner into the game. But there's an other prospective that it will make the batting on zippy pitches, like in the New Zealand, a bit more difficult. In those kind of conditions the batsmen have to see through the new ball and be cautious at the start. So 2 new balls will make life more harder for batsmen on particular pitches. I'm not gonna vote in favor of this change. 2. "Two bowlers are to be allowed to bowl 12 overs each and two to bowl ten, leaving the fifth bowler an allocation of just six." So you're telling me that the ICC wants to ensure that teams play with 4 bowlers! That means the young bowlers' opportunities to get into the national team reduce even more. There are cricketers who only get their chance as the 5th bowler when the team has a good attack. This will shut their chances. Discouraging. The good thing is that the teams can have their 2 best bowlers bowl upto 24 overs. Batting teams often plan to play the 2 best bowlers with caution till their overs finish and attack against the others. This rule will make them think about that approach. @ Y factor: The bowlers used to bowl more than 10 overs a match in earlier days also, when you had 60 over ODIs. So comparing or differentiating between stats isn't a big issue. To conclude, I think these changes are not really necessary. If they need to change anything about the format then just make a team play 2 inns of 25 overs, so that the toss doesn't make a big impact. That's the only change I want.
19 :
I think this changes will only help the batsmen. The ODIs will be more interesting from now on.

A 'nomadic' life is unstable, constantly changing, no place to call 'home'. Good luck raising a family if you're living the life of a nomad. It won't happen.

Well, you figured out what the most successful people in the world do; They WRITE DOWN everything they want to do in their lives. Then they wait. The WAY to make what they come true; comes to them. In ways they never would expect. They never chase after what they want. That never works. They never put a calendar against what they want. That does not work either.
